WHY QUALITY EARLY LEARNING MATTERS

Children’s learning experiences during their first 5 years of life are critical to their development. These early experiences have long-lasting effects. Research shows that high quality early learning programs not only prepare children for kindergarten, they can also increase the likelihood of a child graduating from high school and having a successful career.

Become a Licensed Family Child Care Home Provider

By the end of 2022, there were nearly 1,000 family friend and neighbor (FFN) child care providers in Riverside County. There are resources available through Riverside County Office of Education and Consortium for Early Learning Services in partnership with F5RC to support these providers earn their license and potentially increase access to quality care for thousands of children. There are important steps to follow to become licensed, but help is here to ensure we have greater quality care for our children countywide.

To share the impactful story of a previous FFN provider, F5RC has released a video to show potential new providers about the rewarding and crucial work of becoming a licensed child care provider. The video focuses on Monique Hong, who runs Crafty Bears as a family child care home. Monique served 2 children as an FFN and now serves 14 children as a licensed provider!
